KING EDWARD’S SCHOOL BUILDING, Broad Street
The old school of King Edward’s on Broad Street was opened in 1754 and closed in 1986. Since then the three story Grade II building, subject to numerous planning applications, has sat derelict but It’s hoped the former school will be turned into a pub and hotel.
Did you know … King Edwards was one of the first schools in the country to form an Officer Training Corps during the Boer War in 1900 with half of the school enrolled.
